DC Efficiencies

Because consumers can’t touch a product or see it before buying it, they will frequently order in multiple sizes, variants or colors. Invariably they return all but one piece. This session will explore different supply chain options for returned and excess inventories. An analytic framework will be presented to cover dynamic inventory repositioning, omni-channel resale, end-of-life inventory, minimizing dimensional surcharges, total cost optimization, refurbishment options and discounting.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Total cost framework for returns processing
  • New understanding of how to decrease parcel spend while recovering a larger portion of unused products’ costs
  • Implementable tactics you can deploy in your organization
